Cage's Deli Radiations is my favourite David James Allen album. I'm no record reviewer, but there's a real special quality about Dave's music that truly shakes and surprises the listener with every new album. It's almost like part look-what-I've-done-now daringness, part bet-you-weren't-expecting-this wink of the eye, and all the while coming across as so humble and full of wide spectrum emotion. Don't make me choose a favourite track!
Bet Smith

Bet Smith I'm a sucker for these smooth vintage vibes and beautifully crafted songs. Just Kids is the first song I heard and it roped me right in. The whole album is gold. D.J.A. takes risks that make this record textured and dynamic (and sometimes a bit saucy), but still a feel-good, effortless listen. Favorite track: Just Kids.

Jeremy / HI54LOFI Some classic singer-songer vibes radiating throughout — pairs so nicely with a Sunday afternoon that there is even a song called 'Sundae Afternoon'. Favorite track: Black Dog, Yellow Morning.

Just Kids 03:23
When we were young, When we were just kids I used to dream about you naked in my bed I’d see the light beams shining, the sun light beams shining Over mountain tops of your chest When we were young, When we were just kids I used to dream about you kissing me to bed Id see the bright moon start fading, I’d see the bright moon start fading Id be dreaming about you until the morning I’d wait Oh time and space And the glory days With shadows and egos at play Oh magic ways of the memory game To most unimportant but its history made. When we were young, When we were just kids Banks weren’t an issue our pockets were thin We’d leave the house to catch a movie, Soda and chips, a cardboard box of beer though I’d drink more than my stake When we were young When we were just kids I swore to myself I’d marry you til’ death I’d see the tide levels rise, The tide levels rising, I’d build a boat of timber to shelter the wake. Oh time and space And the difficult days The actors and showmen at play Oh magic ways of the memory game I think about you daily, hope you’re doing okay. Oh, I think about you daily, hope you’re doing okay. Shalala.

Black Dog, yellow morning A trip down memory lane It's been a long time since you’ve been happy You know I feel the same. Wide-eyed fury cultures Growing in tupperware It’s been sometime since Ive been social Its been a long long time since Ive had charity Do you know what I mean? I want to know what it's like baby, I want to know what it's like (to be received) I want to know what it's like honey, I want to know what it's like (to feel like you) I want to know what it's like to be beautiful. Black dog, yellow morning It's always picking on me It's been some time since I've been healthy And overcome defeat Black dog, smiling faces Those little masks that we wear, It's been sometime since I've been honest It's been a long long time now, Since I've had clarity Do you know what I mean? I want to know what it's like baby, I want to know what it's like (to be relieved) I want to know what it's like honey, I want to know what it's like (to feel like you) I want to know what it's like to be beautiful. It's so easy to shadow a feeling with laughter, It's so easy to cloak a dream in a smile, It's so easy to hide my wants in a busy day, And when that evening sun goes down, In the nights I feel expired Until helping hands reach on down from in my dreams.

Woke up today and swept the floors I heard you weeping by the bedside Remove the dirt, open the doors I’m neat and tidy for new feelings. It seems like oh, just yesterday, When we were pushing for that ceiling Living wild and acting free And forgiving when it was needed. Hopeful times and loud parades Birthday candles on your face Oh, what trying times.. Walked out the door into the wind I heard you humming with the willows, In every step of crunching snow It’s your drumming I hear beating The rumbling of motorcars Is a bass line that you’ve been feeding, The chirping birds above my head They’re a melody that you’re swelling. Precious time and heated rage, Arguments for a lonely stage Oh, what trying times.. Oh, what trying times.. Woke up today and stayed in bed I heard you singing from the park side A lovely tune that was your own And I was laying there applauding It seems like oh, just yesterday, When we were pushing for that ceiling Bluebird sing from beneath the skin, No longer hide amongst the shadows.

Tough Love 03:49
Hey! You’re freaking out again The world is changing, people fading in And out again. A mirror glass reflecting all that's known But upside and rearranged, You just need a friend.. Hey! You’re freaking out again, Time keeps rolling, pressures coming on And off again, A ballooning glass of teardrops from her eyes, But the glass just smiles and sighs ‘It’s days gone by’. It's been sometime since I've been there, The battles in my bones, Chased away by my blues and pain I’ve slumbered in a mould, Owned and owed. Hey! You’re freaking out again, The colours changing, the wrinkles on your face Are standing out again, Beautiful transitions come with age, And you look just right in every light, It’s years gone by. Hey! You’re freaking out again, The world is changing, people fading in And out again The lofiness of mortals have a line, And I have mine, You’ll be fine. The days go by. Resilience is your stronger suit You’re charming to the bone You’ve chased away my blues and pain I’m slumbered in a glow When all the earth is yours have no fear. When all the earth is yours have no fear.. And stand tall, Tough Love.

Radiations 04:15
Golden sun and a fist full of sand On a beach with nothing but you I felt it come true, It started with you. We followed our wants down a wishing well, In hopes to find something new, I found it in you, Did you find something too? You had me singing. I, I want you. I, I want you. For days on end I’d be sharing my time With radiations of you I felt it come true, It started with you. Your mother caught us under comforters, You’d explain to her I’m of worth, All was of worth, I started to work. You had me singing. I, I want you. I, I want you. I, I want you. I, I want you.

Scarecrow 02:41
There's a whisper in the county, A murmuring of doubt on the faces that surround me. The horizon line is rising, The scarecrows shadow is covering the corn. The wells aren't running empty, There's a flooding of the fields that has lasted most the year. Cars are quickly fleeing, As the scarecrow lifts his finger to the air. Come are you are, come as you aren't. From out behind the barnyards, The wheat is growing rapidly and larger than the walls, From the heads of wheat comes a palindrome of shrieking to my ears. The dogs are barking fiercely, Coyotes in their dens and the crows are crying out. And the passerine birds Are signing songs of freedom to the mudd. Come as you are, come as you aren't. A melody is humming, Song mans got his lead to the lines of the page. There's a darkness springing forward, From behind his back, and no resolutions made.

Do What Fits 03:05
Wake up, get up, get out of bed. Ungown, dress up, let your hair hang low. Walk out, breath in, let them flowers grow. Take off and be feared, let your feelings show. Don’t let the others change your point of view, Don’t let them call you out on things that they do too. Wake up, sleep in, or get out of bed. Ungown, dress up, do what it is that fits. Don’t let the others change your mind for you, Accept the others and hope they’ll accept you too. Ah.. Wake up, sleep in (get up) or get out of bed Ungown, dress up (dress up) Do what it is that fits Do what it is that fits Do what it is that fits Do what it is that fits Do what it is that fits Do what it is that fits

In the hour of my life I’ll sing a song Bright shiny cheerful tunes In a funny poem In the hour of my life I’ll bring the sun Big yellow rays of light Make for a comfy tomb La da da, La da da, La da da da. La da da da, da da da. In the hour of my life, I’ll sing a song Kind tender words of might (They’re all made for you) In the hour of my life, I won’t beg for more In the hour of my life, I’ll sing with you. La da da, La da da, La da da da. La da da da, da da da.

The moon has come and graced the sky I’m feeling fine. Whatever we do when we get off work Will feel fine. Just to share this dance with you, it just feels right! I ain’t much a dancer, But to share a couple drinks and I’m good And I’ll gladly trek through hell and back just to share this dance with you. Whisper in my ears sweet little nothings, Slice of the cake, gain reign on that lightning. Feel fine! I feel fine! I ain't much a dancer, But to share a couple drinks and I’m good And I’ll gladly trek through hell and back just to share this dance with you. And I’ll gladly trek through hell and back just to share this dance with you. And I’ll gladly trek through hell and back just to share this dance with you. And I’ll gladly trek through hell and back just to share this dance with you.

When you’re sad babe, Must try and be strong. When you get low dear, Must carry on. And say ‘hello’ to your dark friend, Strike up conversations Because in the dark there is light. When we’re lonely, We’re so lonely. It seems we may forget, The company we’ve kept in the dark. When we’re lonely, We’re so lonely. We’re lonely. We’re so lonely. It seems we may forget, The company we’ve kept in the dark.
